The biggest lineup of the club's classic two-stroke power ever. Very impressive and a befitting way to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vespa. Thanks to all who supported this event. The weather bureau reports that the blue smoke haze over Melbourne should clear by early next week.
The winners at the Maling Road Auto Classica event were:
Rolf G, "Best Original Scooter" for his unrestored 1957 VB1
Greg P, "Best Restored Scooter" for his immaculate 1958 VB1
John K, "People's Choice Award" for his beautiful 1960 VBA
A very enjoyable ride that was well organised and very well marshalled! Crossing the CBD was hard work but belting around the bends of Yarra Boulevard made up for that. Thank you to all involved.
What a fabulous day it was today with so many beautiful ladies out strutting their stuff...and some being a little pedantic about it...but in the end we all made it to our destination Maling Road, Canterbury.. Picture perfect weather and wonder company....a huge thank you to Greg and David for all their work in making this such a smooth running day out for our classic members and it was great to see members waiting for us at the other end....
Thank you everyone, and I hope you all got home safely...

There's only 1 place left for the Classic Ride - which will make 31 scooters (and 1 car) on the ride. Stretching it as far as we can go. And all bar one registrations are Club Members. Snap up that place if you are interested in coming.
Now working on logistics and final route - the large size of the ride will limit where we can stop, but there are a couple of interesting permit applications in process.
We'll create a waiting list too, as I am sure some places will arise over the next few weeks.
The ride will arrive at Maling Rd between 12.30 and 1 PM - where a major community event is being organised by our friend Peter of AlleyCat Café - food and entertainment. More news of this soon, but ALL members are welcome to be there. What a huge event this is going to be.
Only 3 places left - capped at 30
