Quarterly Classic Vespa "Spring" Meet (in the West)

Many VCoM members own classic Vespa scooters ranging between 65 and 25 years old. About 54 of these beautiful machines are registered on our Club Permit Scheme. So if you are a proud owner of an older geared Vespa, this event has been organised especially for you.

This regular "Classic Meet" will provide an opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts of older Vespas to socialise over coffee. Here's an opportunity to get in touch with other classic owners living in a suburb close to you. It's a great excuse to admire each other's machines, discuss various models, relate restoration stories, swap maintenance tips, learn about what tools to carry and how to keep your classic ride nice and reliable. There is a lot of knowledge within the club to help you solve problems and several members own specialised tools that help you perform various tasks when working on an older scooter. Technical manuals, history books about Vespa and other such paraphernalia will be available to browse at these events.

The Classic Vespa Meets are a regular event held quarterly during each of Melbourne's four seasons and in the four directions of the compass so there's no excuse not to attend as we are coming to you!

8485191674?profile=originalOur "Spring" Classic Meet is on Sunday 12 October, 2-4pm at the Garazi Cafe, 107 Gamon Street, Yarraville.

If your scooter is not quite ready to make its appearance, or you are unsure if it will get you across town, then just come along by car. Since the design of the PX has hardly changed since it was first introduced over 35 years ago, owners of these geared scooters are very welcome to attend as is anybody else who is curious about old Vespas. Even if you own a modern twist and go, come along and talk to somebody about what its like to own a twist, clunk and stall. We hope to fill the forecourt of Garazi Cafe with gleaming old Vespas.

This is also the ideal occasion for the swag of small-frame classic Vespas recently acquired by club members to make their debut appearance. Hope to see a lot of these cute but formidable scooters at this event.

Prizes sponsored by the Vespa Club of Melbourne will be awarded for:

"The Vespa with the Most Classic Appeal" and

"The Best Small-frame Vespa"

The lucky winners will receive a ticket worth $30 to Motorclassica where some of our members will be exhibiting their classic scooters, 24-26 October.

See you at Garazi! David, Classic Rider Organiser, VCoM

Perfect attire Julie. 27 degrees tomorrow so the smells should be acute. Yes, I'll bring the banner. Haven't tried packing it yet.

And just read about your fill in ride...I am in for that one...sounds quite exciting should we bring overalls and a a gas mask....

David will you be bringing the banner?

I will be riding Claudio's nice scoot. Will be arriving at about 3 pm I think.

There will be a group from the original 1957 club attending.... make sure your scooter is in original condition...

I am thinking of an impromptu ride for those who are attending our Abbotsford Convent breakfast and AGM and who want to fill in time until our Classic Vespa Meet in Yarraville at 2pm.

I've called it "The Industrial Grunge Ride". It will encompass some unlikely places in Melbourne's inner West that you might have never seen before - or ever wish to again! Should be fun. Lunch in Sunshine possibly at Angelo's favourite eatery. Let me know who is interested.

Claudio needs someone to ride one of his classics to this event.  He will be riding the small frame.

If you are game please leave a message here.

Sorry, won't be able to make it this time.

Please note that because of a clash with the Australian National Classic Scooterist Rally in SA, our forthcoming Spring 'Classic Vespa Meet' has been rescheduled for October 12 (the same day as our regular Convent breakfast meet). This will allow members who are going to the rally to attend our classic meet the following weekend. The time and venue remain the same. My apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment.
