'Everything begins and ends at the exactly right time and place'" - Miranda

A whole Club ride. Strap on your basket and pack your favourite goodies for an all in picnic at hanging rock. Hanging rock provides an excellent junction for our three Victorian chapters, Melbourne, Geelong and Bendigo.  Roughly 80 Kms as the crow flies for us Bendigoinians and not much different for the rest of the crew.

A trip to Hanging Rock provides a great riding opportunity for all of us.  The Old Calder for the Bendigo gang, via Bacchus Marsh for our Geelong team and a cool run out to Monegeetta for our Melbourne adventurers.

MELBOURNE RIDE: Departing Essendon. Meeting at Johnny Pump, 87 Fletcher St Essendon MAP (next to the big roundabout from 8 am for breakfast or coffee.  Departing at 9.15 am. Usual ride out but without stops - meeting GL crew at the Gisborne Caltex servo at 10.30 am. REFUEL.  Then a great ride over the mountain. We'll arrive at The Rock at 11.30 for the picnic. Bendigo crew will meet us there. Bring food to share for lunch and be ready to climb Miranda! Don't get lost! MAP MELB ROUTE UP

GEELONG RIDE:

BENDIGO RIDE: Departing 9.45 Bendigo Corner Store Meet at 9:30 and get going around 9:45.  We are picking Marilyn up along the way (10:00am just past the Reservoir Road intersection) before stopping briefly at the Strathfieldsaye Petrol Station for a top up before heading off towards Eppalock.  We will have a stop at the Reidsdale hotel to regroup and take a short breather before continuing on to Hanging Rock via Kyneton (another petrol detour for those thirsty buggers if needed) along the back roads. I have prepared a route for us to travel which provides some fuel stops (Strathfieldsaye, Kyneton, Taradale), regroup stops along the way (Eppalock kiosk, Redesdale pub, Kyneton turn off, etc) .

Oops, sorry Russell. Just realised that I will be away at the National Scooter Rally in Griffith on that weekend. Otherwise would have loved to attend. Have a great ride on the day, David

So timely just as a new movie is being made "Picnic at Hanging Rock the real story" ... it is being filmed next door to my work and we watched Miranda running along the path today...interesting...

This is going to be a big one - linking members from Bendigo, Geelong, and Melbourne. We'll organize some meeting points so that we meet up along the way and ride into the Rock together!
