Join the spectacular act of unity that is Melbourne’s Midsumma Pride March!
Parade, pride and party come together once a year in Melbourne's iconic march celebrating solidarity in gender and sexuality diversity.
As VCOM has been a Melbourne icon since 1957 it’s time we did our bit to support the LGBTIQA community, and as an inclusive club we are delighted to announce that we will be participating in the Melbourne Midsumma Pride March.
This much loved public event is managed by Midsumma in conjunction with the Victorian Government, City of Melbourne and various local governments, and this is its 25th year!
Please RSVP early as there are quite a few hoops to jump through...when you do RSVP as ‘Going’ can you please add in the Comments section what colour Vespa you intend to ride.
Info will be added here as it becomes available for-
- Registration of bike and rider with Victoria Police
- Drug and alcohol testing on the day
- Helmets are compulsory
- No hooning rules
- Marshalling area, times and briefing
- Heat management

Thanks one and all for the comments - yes it was an awesome day and we’ll do it again next year bigger and better! Roll on Vespa!
What a fabulous report David and we we do know how our vespas turn heads, but for a crowd to go wild that is wonderful... bet the organisers were pleased with that. Congratulations Gail on a splendid job in gathering a group to join us, lets hope it won't be so hard that you have to bribe with lollies this time...:) I am sad that I missed it but definitely next year... Also well done to you members who did participate for a great cause and had fun along the way albeit the very long wait. Colin I am guessing you had plenty of time to get to know more about this amazing club and we will see you in March at the National Scooter Rally in Umina. Fantastic job everyone. Cheers Julie
Well done riders! and well done Gail for organising !
As you would expect from Melbourne’s Pride March event, the atmosphere was one of celebration, respect, joy and community - so much love in the air. Our gaggle of Vespas was placed near the rear of a very long parade at a point where the interest of the crowd was perhaps on the wane.
But as we know, Vespas turn heads. Even more so as our cohort of colourfully decorated scooters arrived on the scene. The crowd went wild. In 57 years of riding, I’ve never had so much fun packed into just one kilometre.
We all agreed that the club’s participation in this event can only build from here. Heavens, there was even talk of a boom box and synchronised riding next time. If you want to make a great memory and have a fun day out, then jump onboard for 2021 when Gail posts the event later this year in September.
Thanks Gail for your impeccable organisation, for all those clear instructions and for supplying the decorations. What a hoot, sorry er, toot!
I'm bringing my yellow vespa from Tassie.
I will email Gail as requested.
