Thanks for a great week end away Tufan.
We saw iconic Australian paintings. There were Glovers, Guerards, Buvelots, Streetons, McCubbins, Bracks, Boyds, Williams, Blackmans, Nolans, Frenches, Friends, Smarts, Roberts, Lindsays, Freedmans, Drysdales, Piccininis, as well as some moving contemporary work.
I popped into one dark room and came across two young men wiping away tears as they watched the video installation piece "Apology to Roadkill" by Shaun Gladwell. A motorcyclist clad in black leather with tinted visor covering his face, stops to craddle a dead kangaroo in his arms.
In keeping with the theme of the ride, Tufan produced boxes of coloured pencils at the dinner table on Saturday night, and some cards for us to colour in. Inspired by what I had seen, I quickly whipped up the following little sketch:
But perhaps the best art we saw was the glorious autumn tinted landscapes of the goldfields region painted by a masterful hand. A fun weekend and yes, I did enjoy the power and speed of a modern auto.
Thank you once again Tufan for organising this gorgeous ride. The weather was perfect and the colors of autumn were simply stunning...and the galleries were interesting also. It was lovely catching up with our Bendigo crew thanks for coming to meet us Russel and Marilyn and how thick was that fog riding into meet up with the others for breakfast, but thankfully it cleared again into another beautiful sunny day for some more great riding... thanks everyone for a lovely relaxed weekend.
The morning is stunningly gorgeous today. Autumn colours will be at their best....and the art will be uplifting....
From a 90% chance of rain on Saturday to only 30% in the morning. Things are looking up. I'd hate to be stuck at home on some nice sunny autumn days thinking of those riders out in the beautiful Victoria countryside having so much fun. See you tomorrow Tufan.
Having breakfast or coffee or a snack at Pako Raw before we all kick off.... I'll be there from 9....come and have coffee, join the ride to Meredith, or beyond
Have a great weekend ride, I hope the weather is kind ,,,
That is great Darren, looking forward to catching up again and we will pack a banner for you. See you Saturday...:)
It appears I have conquered the Prince of Darkness that is the guardian of Vespa electrics and with the help of a new wiring loom, I have fully functioning lights etc!
Leave pass has been granted.
It looks like I will be meeting you all in Meredith for a coffee then riding along into Ballarat.
Greg, Any chance you could bring along a club legshield banner for me?
Laugh, maybe, grimace, for sure.
Saturday rain easing, Sunday sunny (probably more so in cental Vic)
Well done David!
We laugh in the face of rain, ha ha ha brrr. Just got a single room at the Maldon Hotel for $50. There'll be food on hand and a nice warm fire.
