A ride south to the rich volcanic landscape near lake Corangamite. Amazing views from the Red Rock lookouts. This is a small part of the great Volcano Ride others have spoken about, and it's a great chance for all of us to break out of the winter bunker. RSVP to this ride is essential - The Inverleigh Hotel is a popular small pub and we have to book.

This ride is 'in development' -  all will be finalized by Wednesday. The weather outlook is great - a dry day with a coldish morning and a sunny 16 for the afternoon.

Melbourne early start - and Itinerary

Meeting from 7.30 AM at a familar servo. The BP Truckstop on Geelong Road, Brooklyn (MAP) is that last servo before the road to Geelong and then around to Fyansford. There's good coffee and the usual fare here. Please breakfast at home, here, or bring snacks as we won't be stopping for a formal breakfast during the ride. At this time of day the road will be very quiet, so we will cruise down together at 90 kph, and in a group. It's exaclty half an hour between traffic lights. If you haven't done this before don't worry - you'll be safe and looked after. Layer up because it will be cold. Departure is  8.30 AM sharp.

9.30 PM - stop at historic Fyansford in the hotel car park. Toilet stop there and we can meet up with any of our Geelong area members joining us. Then to Inverleigh, refuelling at the servo, before Beeac, Corangamite, and the fabulous Red Rock landscape and the lookouts.

After we've filled our phone memories with pictures, we'll backtrack to the Inverleigh Hotel. A very popular and warm pub grub. Menu

After lunch we'll say farewell to our Geelong friends and the return journey can be scenic via Lethbridge and Anakie, or quickly via the freeway.
