Description
This is a short 60km circular ride along lovely winding semi-rural roads on the northeast outskirts of the metropolis. It is suitable for all riders, slower, small capacity and older geared scooters. There will however be a thrilling descent, lots of curves to enjoy and I expect the wattles to be in full bloom. Our whirl around this pretty region includes passing through Nutfield. Unlike Nutbush which has it’s City Limits, there ain’t much happening here. It’s just a locality really but that's what makes it “The Nutfield Wattle Whirl Ride” and we can stop at the Nutfield recreation oval for a spot of Nutbush City Limits line-dancing.
Departure Time and Return
You can laze in bed a while longer than is normal for our club rides as we start off at 10:30am. Our route returns us to our start point in Eltham for lunch at around 1:30-2pm. We say goodbye here but for those who get lost on this side of town, we’ll organise an interesting way back to the big smoke if needed.
Departure Point
We leave from the Cafe Zen Den, 736 Main Road, Eltham at 10:30am sharp. It has has no signage so it's easy to miss. Park down the drive behind the cafe. However if you want breakfast and coffee beforehand then you’ll need to arrive by 9:30am. PLEASE ARRIVE WITH A FULL TANK as there will be no fuel stops on this ride.

Another fabulous ride up in the hills thanks to David. The weather was interesting but didn't stop us vesperados enjoying a great day out. Hope everyone got home safe and dry.
Westies: if you would like to ride to Eltham together, we're departing 8.30 am from 23 Everett St West Brunswick: via Bell St - Heidelberg - to Eltham. Join us.
STOP PRESS
Well blow me down, during our ride on Sunday we'll bump into the Hurstbridge Wattle Festival. Now I mentioned wattles in the event description and Miss Wattle will make an appearance on the day. I also mentioned Line Dancing, and guess what? there will be line dancing at the festival too! There will be vintage cars and motorcycles on display, a live vintage steam train will run between Eltham and Hurstbridge and there are free double decker bus and Tuk Tuk rides around the town plus heaps of entertainment. And let's have a Country Woman's Association Devonshire Tea at the Shire Hall. Their scones would have to be the best. Thanks JB for the heads-up.
Hi everybody. Nice to have some riders onboard for the Nutfield Whirl. The Vespa Club of Melbourne has a fearless reputation so I'm sure a 60% chance of 1mm rain in the morning won't deter anyone, ha ha. See you all on Sunday :-)
Of course not James. Gosh, if I had a motorbike I'd be riding it too but I'm still saving, ha ha.
Lets hope Rockabilly will be ready to join,I have been working on for one week,90% will be there.
cheers Vesparados. (Y)
