Imagine a balmy summer evening sitting outdoors in a courtyard under a canopy of trees surrounded by beautiful Vespas and fine company. Enjoy antipasto, pizza, French crepes or gelati with great coffee while watching Roman Holiday, the 1953 movie that first introduced this quaint Italian scooter to America. A recipe for a sublime evening out. Ahhh... "la dolce vita!"

Club member and owners of Canterbury's Alleycat Cafe, Peter and Judi Barclay, want to celebrate the launch of their recently acquired 1949 Lambretta 3-wheeled van. Lovingly restored by Roberto and now set up to serve Italian gelati, this rare gem is typical of the little 3-wheeled workhorses that once plied the narrow streets of Italy immediately post war and helped the nation get back on its feet.

Alleycat will donate a portion of the evening's takings to our Club's Cambodian Ride for Children project so every delicious mouthful you take is for a great cause. Thank you Judi and Peter for your generosity.

Although the event is open to the general public, Peter will be reserve an area specifically for club members.

7:30pm Saturday 21 February
Alleycat Cafe
8 Theatre Place (off Mailing Road)
Canterbury

Oh, and remember to bring your scooter too - the older the better.

Agree Clare it was a wonderful evening and a huge thank you to Peter, Judi, their team of helpers, David, Imam and Mario from Squisito.

A balmy evening, amazingly tempered crowd considering the heat, great food, a very entertaining movie causing a few squeals of delight when a vespa appeared on the screen and we received a huge boost to our Cambodian Charity from all the very generous donations... :)

A message from Peter: Alleycat has arranged for a musician to play from 7:15pm onwards. The long term forecast for the 21st is a 27 degree day which promises a pleasant warm evening. Digital projection has been tested. Although there has been a lot of local interest in this event, Peter has decided that club members do not need to book. Instead, he will reserve an area of the courtyard specifically for Vespa Club of Melbourne members. However, I would suggest that those interested in attending RSVP at the top of this page. It will be a great evening.

    Wonderful. Can't wait.

Hey everybody.... RSVPing on this event won't be enough. You have to actually call and book your seats with Alleycat on 9830 4806 as the event is open to the general public, and seats are limited. Hope to see you there.

    That ride through Rome!
