It's hot... love it. It's a sizzler!!!

I really really need a ride, so here is an easy one along the bay to Brighton beach. Bring a towel and togs if you feel like a dip.  Plenty of parking, a cafe and a beach, and... predicted 41 degrees. At least it's cool when you ride!

Meet at Fringe Cafe St Kilda from 9am.

Have a relaxed warm morning coffee and feel the air.

Depart at 11 am.

The ride is straight forward round the bay to Frankston pier and the beach there. There may be some diversions along the way so I am open to your suggestions. Do you have one?

The ride is suitable for all bikes - classic, modern, big, little, geared, auto - so it would be nice to see some of the new members there too. Just a relaxed hot day - easy riding with with lovely views on the right as we head down, and on the left the way back. Wear light gear and bring a bottle of water.

We'll get back to St Kilda for a beer at about 3PM. We will park outside The Espy!

It would be great to see you there.

Love the excuse about the physique David, I'm intending to use that one later...

Sorry I can't come on this one, a prior commitment. Besides, I need to work much harder on my physique before exposing it to the elements. Perhaps it'll be ready for next year. Have fun.

Bureau of Meteorology is now forcasting 41 for Melbourne on Sunday, as opposed to 44 when this ride was first proposed. Forecast for bayside suburbs is much lower, Brighton only 34. Winds are also forcast to be light, south to south easterly 10 knots. So no hot northerlies. In my opinion Sunday is going to be BLOODY PERFECT.

  • Good luck in those temperatures people. I'm still in Europe with grey and wet skies as I look out the Richmond apartment. Sigh. A sultry 5 degrees outside and raining. This run sounds like a great ride and I'm very envious!

I've figured out how to tie a 30L Esky securely to the seat of my 300 (for ice and bottled water). Is that being a bit excessive? It makes a great back rest.

Fringe is no longer the Fringe and has been replaced with... Wait for it... A vegetarian cafe, Sisters of Soul. Not quite as casual as Fringe but still good for a coffee/beer. I won't be able to make the ride but will try to join you for an afternoon refreshing bubbles.. or three...
