Sorrento Bound - time trial for Around the Bay - Sun 3 Sept

Our Around the Bay will be a bit different this year.

Firstly it will be a Club / Member only ride.

Secondly, there won't be a Chelsea morning tea. Our hosts will be overseas in December.  Have a great holiday Ira and Stefan, and thank you for holding and donating this complimentary morning tea for the past 10+ years.

We will now be doing a recce ride to Sorrento to re-time the ride, given the morning tea stop time is 'saved'.

We'll search for a safe place for 100+ vespas to gather mid-way to Mornington, looks like Frankson.

We'll chase to time it so that the RTB ride can catch the 12 noon ferry (rather than the usual 1.00 PM.

Today's test ride will stop in Sorrento for an early lunch at 11.30 AM, and then we'll ride home.

We would like a handful of members to join us to replicate this ride, to help us with the planning.

If you are joining us, then you'll need to be at that meeting point, geared up and ready to ride.

8.15 AM Ride leaves Yarraville. Dad and Dave's Cafe (Bus station)  Good breakfast and coffee too. 

8.45 AM  St Kilda. Shakespeare Grove car park along Luna Park. 

10.00 AM Frankston - Bay Street Car Park / Frankston Oval. Regroup only. Don't gear down. We ride as soon as the tail rider is in.

10.30 AM  Mornington.Tante Avenue Regroup only. Don't gear down, we ride as soon as tail rider is in.

11.30 AM Arrive Sorrento

    Scooter is checked. Just need fuel in am. Will go to St Kilda for pick up depending on how I am going. Weather looks great. Looking forward for another nice ride along the coast. Another cracker day.

    If you're joining us for the recce ride on Sunday please have a full tank and be geared up - we're trying to ride to the same pace as Around The Bay and won't be stopping for fuel en route to Sorrento.  
    We think the area around Frankston Football ground is going to meet our needs for a stop / that is 100 scooters exiting the Nepean, being able to park and gear down, and then re enter the Nepean - all without traffic lights!
    A reminder that it is Father's Day and most of the restaurants in Sorrento are booked out - but we have found an alternative place for an early lunch

    Thanks Team. I'll meet you at St. Kilda on my LX and ride as far as Frankston. I'll need to turn back at Frankston though I'm afraid as my wife has booked a Fathers day lunch ! Weather is looking promising at this stage.smile

    All things going to plan I will join from St.Kilda to Mornington and then head back.
