Agreed about the great advice, David. I do actually like the idea of back roads and camping. I'd be concerned about hitting dirt ones, but I guess that's where the planning comes in. Another possibility to think of... :-)
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave, Yes it's a '67 Super. Had it since new but it was sitting in a garage for many years until I did it up a couple of years ago. I'm enjoying being back on it. It's great around the city but long journeys at a cruising speed of around 80k/hr on a scooter like this wouldn't suit most people - you can't be in a hurry. It's been to Orbost, Mildura, Sydney and many places in between often camping along the way. I'm so bonded with the thing that I enjoy it immensely. Part of the fun is planning a route that keeps clear of the highways. The back roads are often more interesting anyway. I like to explore every town I pass through and stop along the way often. I wouldn't want to do more than 400kms in a day. You've had some great advice from club members about which scooter. If you are interested in a classic then a PX200 would cruise at around 90-100km/hr okay. But you will probably be more relaxed and comfortable on a modern auto that can keep up with today's traffic. Take your time in deciding. Here's a pic of her on top of Mt Hotham last March.
Ok... looking at your profile information (which I should have done in the first place), I see that it's most probably a 1967 VBC 150 Super? It looks so new! It looks as though you've travelled far on that. It's ok for long journeys on highways?
Hi David, I'm still learning the different shapes of models. What model is that? It's a great looking scooter, and looks great with the bags.
