This little rotan hut actually has a water buffalo inside it. Cows and buffalo don't graze freely in Bali. Their feed is brought to them. This is the reason why the grass along the roadside always looks freshly cut. There is no foot and mouth disease as the animals are kept apart. After feeding on insects and pests in the rice fields, the ducks wait patiently for the farmer to return and lead them home. They are trained to follow that stick with a bit of plastic tied to the end. They spend the night in the family compound.
