Good to hear the rain jacket works. I have been eyeing off the rain suit but have pants similar to what you describe so might follow your advice for the jacket only.

    Hi Gary

We were lucky in that the first half of the ride - the long stretch from melb to Meredith was rain free with even the occasional patch of blue sky. We hit the poorer weather when we turned south into Meredith and even then it was just light drizzle.

Dry and warm? Everyone has a different system to suit themseves but I wore a base a layer of thermal gear - mine is ski thermal from Kathmandu.

    Another T shirt over that

Then my normal bike gear - a solid lined leather jacket, and kevlar jeans. A woolen snood around my neck and face.

Over that the Corazzo plastic rain jacket is just fantastic - rain and wind proof - $50 from Vespa House.

And some plastic leggings - mine from AMX - $30

I can honestly say that - apart from fingers - I was warm as toast all day and didnt notice how cold it was until I watched the news at home later.

I am sure other members will add to this. Still searching for the finger solution, It seems to me that no matter how much you spend on gloves, it is still very hard to keep warm over a long stretch.

I admire the passion to get out on the scooter. This ride was delayed a week because of the weather but glad it "improved" for you all.

Can anyone recommend their wet weather gear? It will be interesting to hear what worked best in keeping you dry and warm.
