A city ride along the Yarra, stopping at places you've never seen before. New members, all members, all Vespa. BOM promises a fine day too. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Melbourne once had a wonderful Yarra Trail winding all the way from the the Port, through the city, to Heidelberg, the bushland home of the Heidelberg art school. It has since been cut by highways and freeways, but most of the sections are still there. Join us for a ride along the trail. There will be plenty of stops along the way so 'bring your Kodak'. This ride is a slow one and is suitable for all Vespa and rider experience. We'll wind our way all the way up to the Heide Art Gallery, begore heading to Ivanhoe for some lunch at La Porchetta there.
Meeting from 8.30 am for coffee at:
Station Pier Port Melbourne. At Mr Hobson cafe, park right out the front. <MAP>
Depart at 9.30 AM
We'll travel along the Bay to the Yarra, a view of the Westgate, then north to Docklands and struggle through the city to get to the boatsheds for the classic Melbourne photo, along the Yarra, stopping at Little Audrey still skipping away, the Yarra Boulevard. Then old Heidelberg which still features an original stretch of trail and we'll finish with a walk around the grounds of the Heide Art Gallery. There will be many scenic stops along the way. Come along and enjoy old Melbourne while it lasts. We'll finish with a lunch at La Porchetta in Ivanhoe.
