Home via the Hume Freeway - short ride on the dual carriageway. Ride finishes at Claudio's Minimo Café,  Sydney Rd, Brunswick 2.30 PM

Beveridge

Although it has little more than 100 inhabitants, Beveridge is guaranteed a permanent place in Australian history because it was the childhood home of bushranger, Ned Kelly, whose impoverished father, John, settled in the town at a time when the less affluent pioneers were subject to harassment 8485173067?profile=originalfrom the wealthy and influential squattocracy. The Kelly family home still stands, although dilapidated and in need of restoration. It is recorded that John Kelly built this house in 1859 when Ned was about five years old. His brother Dan was born in the house. The house was added to the Victorian Register of Historic Buildings in September, 1992. Its design is unusual in Victoria and shows the Irish heritage of its builder.

Ride conditions:

Country roads - good open riding.

Long stretches of 80 kph.

Wet weather gear

Freeway conditions if we return via the Hume (not far)

Suitable for all riders. If it's your first time on freeway, the Club will take care of you.

It was Arthur on the bike and Olive in the sidecar, and I think Arthur had something printed on the back of his jacket ---- something like 'rockers' - can't remember
