A chance for a leisurely 'working' ride right along the coast from Yarravile down to Mornington, where we'll have some lunch before returning. The ride begins in Yarraville, departing at 9.30 AM and then over the bridge to Port Melbourne, then on...

New meetup! Meet from 8.30 AM at Dad and Dave's Cafe (MAP) 29 Birmingham St Yarraville. right next to Yarraville Station bus depot. Depart at 9.30 AM. If you'd rather meet us in St Kilda, we'll pass by the car park at Shakespeare Grove at 10 AM

It's suitable for everyone, and all Vespa, and is a good way to get back into riding after lockdown. With the lifting of lockdown, we're hoping for quiet roads as most of Melb will be visiting the countryside for the long weekend. We are following the Melbourne city Round The Bay route and investigating some potential hassles, which may or may not allow the ride to proceed this year. So we need to ride and imagine there are 100 Vespa behind us. It isn't easy to guide 100 people around the bay, and things just have to go smoothly on the day for it to work.

Our friends Stefan and Ira have indicated that they are prepared to offer the usual Chelsea morning tea, so that is a great first step.

However we need to investigate the traffic and road closures around the level crossing removal and station rebuilds on the Nepean Hwy. Is it possible to get 100 Vespa down the Nepean and then into the Chelsea morning tea, and then back onto the Nepean Hwy?

With Main St, Mornington now closed as a pedestrian food mall, where will be the Mornington stop and regroup park suitable for 100 Vespa? etc

Please join us. Let's have a nice ride. Enjoy the freedom and each other's company.

Ok Greg, will hopefully see you all around 12 noon in the park at the end of Main street. There is also a fish n chip van parked next to the park on the road down to Snapper point and the Jetty. They sell great food in my opinion. Crispy. There is often an ice cream/gelati van parked next to it also on weekends. Cheers Allan

    Hi Allan.

No not too late. We have nothing booked and just imagined a takeaway and picnic sit down in the park, at about 12 noon.

    Hope to see you there.

Hi Julie ans Greg, Manuela and I might be attending for lunch tomorrow.  Need to know if too late to meet you for lunch re bookings etc. Let's know and then we can finialse if coming or not. The place where you have met previously at Schnapper Point is undergling renovation at the moment. The Royal in Mornington on the Esplanade is an option but maybe booked out??

Also re route planning, there are a number of inland options from Mordialloc to Currum via Wells Road and other minor roads skirting besidee Cannanook Ck, beyond which Nepean Hwy is fine through to Frankston and on to Mornington.  There is also a route via the Esplanade into Mornington, via road opposite Bummings on Nepean Hwy, which brings you to the bottom of Main st, Mornington to save you travelling through the shopping centre if it is a mall.

    Cheers, Allan

Just found this ride while browsing the website. I'll join at St. Kilda at 10.00am also. Looking forward to a ride with the club after this wretched lockdown !  I will need to return home from Chelsea though as I have an afternoon engagement. Looking forward to seeing you there, Terry.
