A "Hills' Ride to Miss Maples Sassafras  via Emerald and Belgrave leaving and returning from Berwick...long sweeping country roads 80km and bendy country lanes 50-60km all tarmac roads sweeping through the hills and a couple of high spots with vista's across the landscape, scenic views....the Hills will be mostly country road/lanes rides at 60km level and open county roads at 80km level.....excellent ride for both Classic and modern

Macro ride overview

Abbortsford to Berwick approx 50km 1 hr ETA 12:00noon

Bodley refuel stop at the Pioneers Park Berwick for eats & coffee 

Leave Berwick at 1:15pm for Sassafras via Emerald & Belgrave 33km - 40min outbound leg

Coffee and window shopping Sassafras 

Sassafras to Berwick different return leg/route 35 km 45 min run via open country roads 80km level

Berwick return to Abbortsford 

Overall 5 1/2 hrs approx 166km round trip

Melbourne group will leave from the Abbotsford Convent after breakfast at 11 am to ride to Berwick and meet up with Mike, who will lead on to Sassafras. Will be great to follow 'Brighton Belle' through the hills.

    Lovely scenery and great ride.... Tad hot though but it made a cold light beer taste exceptionally good...lol.....It was great seeing you and your gorgeous vespa again, love that badge and it was also great to have some new riders join us.

    Thanks guys for making your way out to Berwick...really enjoyed the Hills ride out with you all...it was good to be in a swarm...as opposed to a lone ranger.

    It was a great ride.

    I especially enjoyed the cool wet ferny bit before we hit Sassafras.

    Great also to see your bike again... she is certainly evolving, and looks beautiful.

    Look forward to meeting up with you all later today....yeppeeee its today.....my thoughts would be to take the Dandenong rd option for ease of pace and easier for any of the vintage riders.

    Ok all coming

    It's a hot day again but the idea is to get to Berwick from Abbottsford by 12 noon.

    Mike has booked a table at the Pioneers Cafe frpom 12 noon,so after (some fluids) we will embark on the Sassafrass run where it will cooler!

     

    Ok so given the hot weather there are two routes to Berwick.

    Quick way is the M1

    Slower way is Dandenong Road.

    We will make a groupo decision at breakfast...

    Keep on riding with sinscreen.

    Hi Julie & Greg

    I have booked a table for 12 at the Pioneers Cafe in Berwick for 12 noon under the name of Vespa Club Melbourne at our Berwick meeting venue for a spot of bodily re-fueling before the Hills ride..... for those that would like to get a coffee and something to eat...I booked a table inside so as not to be outside sitting in one position in the direct sun.See you all there at 1 o/clock for the off....I cant wait,cheers Mike
