I know we went there last Easter.... remember? But BOM has changed the weather forecast to a fine day on that side of the city, and we are busting to ride. AND LAL LAL FALL HAS FLOWING WATER! Yes, there's actually a waterfall - so it's worth a ride and carry your camera.
Plotaroute Map: A spin across the tablelands exploring back roads and some little visited places - Bacchus Marsh and Ironbark Road across to Ballan, down to the forgotten town of Morrisons, then up and across to Lal Lal, and across to Buninyong, via Mount Buninyong. Plenty of old places to stop. Landscapes, spectacular views, and old buildings and bridges. What's in Lal Lal? - the old station, and nearby Lal Lal falls, This is a pleasant cruise suitable for all sized Vespa - and all riders. New members - a great ride for you too. Lal Lal was a family drive when I was a kid - even Fred Williams was inspired.
Lunch will be a bakery stop in Buninyong. On the way home we'll do a shoot from the top of Mt Buningyong, stop to pick some sunflowers, and then back through Bacchus Marsh via the wonderful Ironbark Rd. You'll do 240 kms. Mainly 80 kph roads, but a couple of unavoidable 100 kph short stretches.
Melb departure Point leaving 9.30 am.
Caltex Service Station, Cnr Little Boundary and Pipe Roads, Laverton North VIC 3026. This is our western meet spot - a 24 hour Service Station with food and coffee available on site. It's a very quick get away from the city too. MAP > Caltex meeting point
