What and Where
There have been some glorious Autumn colours this season so let’s celebrate the last of the turning leaves before the onset of winter. The inner Eastern suburbs of Melbourne are renown for their leafy green streets. So during this shortish perambulation* we’ll promenade our Vespas along avenues framed by grand plantings of Plane Trees, Oaks and Ashes around Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Camberwell and Kew. With any luck there may be a bit of May sunshine to make the colours ‘pop’ - reds, golds, yellows and rustic browns of every shade.

Warning. This is another silly David ride. It may not be for you but if you don’t mind a bit of slow paced silliness then come along. Its a kind of homage to trees. The ride is perfect for older classic Vespas too. We may go round in circles; the navigation is so complex that David may get lost (but the chances are you’ll never realise it); we may or may not pass the former Minogue family home; we may or may not ride by the homes of past Victorian Premiers. We’ll perambulate* past many splendid gardens; we'll certainly see small charming wooden cottages and also grand faux French style chateaus made from fake polystyrene architectural moldings and sprayed stucco.

Our drunken pretzel route will end up at a nursery cafe in Kew where we can have a light lunch or just a farewell drink. This ride is weather dependent but as long as there is no rain, the event will happen. Should there be strong winds in the coming week, David will be busy trying to glue the leaves back on the trees beforehand. Volunteers welcome.

Departure Point and Time:
Assemble our Vespas in Theatre Place, Maling Road, Canterbury. Just ride your Vespas into the open brick courtyard in front of the trees.

We depart at 10:30 am sharp. Come earlier if you’d like a coffee beforehand. Map <click here>

*Perambulate (pəˈræmbjuleɪt) verb. Meaning: to walk or travel through a place or area, especially for pleasure and in a leisurely way. To traverse a specific area to inspect or survey its boundaries. To stroll or ramble, similar to a promenade. A slow purposeful journey.
