Quarterly Classic Vespa "Spring" Meet (in the West)

The number of classic Vespas owned by members of our club is growing month by month. Some members own more than one. At a couple of events and club rides, geared scooters have even out-numbered their modern twist and go cousins.

We continue to celebrate these old girls and the heritage of the Vespa brand at the sixth of our Classic Vespa Meets.

2-4pm 11 October 2015

Garazi Cafe,

107 Gamon Street

Yarraville

VCoM's Classic Vespa Meets are held regularly during each of Melbourne's four seasons and in the four directions of the compass so there's no excuse not to attend as we are coming to you. This event provides an opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts of older Vespas to socialise over coffee. Get in touch with other classic owners living in a suburb close to you. It's a great excuse to admire each other's machines, discuss various models, relate restoration stories, swap maintenance tips, learn about what tools to carry and how to keep your classic ride nice and reliable. There is a lot of knowledge within the club to help you solve problems and several members own specialised tools that help you perform various tasks when working on an older scooter. Technical manuals, history books about Vespa and other such paraphernalia will be available to browse at these events.

If your scooter is not quite ready to make an appearance, or you are unsure if it will get you across town, then just come along by car. Since the design of the PX has hardly changed since it was first introduced over 35 years ago, owners of these geared scooters are very welcome to attend as is anybody else who is curious about old Vespas. Even if you own a modern twist and go, come along and talk to somebody about what its like to own a twist, clunk and stall.

This is also the ideal occasion for the swag of small-frame classic Vespas recently acquired by club members to make their debut appearance. Hope to see a lot of these cute but formidable scooters at this event.

Prizes by various sponsors will be awarded for:

"Vespa with the Most Classic Appeal"

"Best Small-frame Vespa"

"The Most Handsome PX"

We want to fill the forecourt of Garazi Cafe with gleaming old Vespas so see you at Garazi!

The above event follows our regular Abbotsford Convent Breakfast Meet. For those who would like to ride between these two events to fill in time, the following impromptu ride is offered subject to interest on the day.

    Industrial Grunge Ride - 3 hours, 92kms

This ride celebrates the fast fading industrial heritage of our city. It will encompass some unlikely places in Melbourne's inner west that you might never have seen before - or ever wish to again! Lunch at Newport or Sunshine, possibly at Angelo's favourite eatery. 92kms of riding the inner city all within sight of the Eureka Tower. Drab, grey and dirty - industrial grunge never looked so pretty.
