This ride is open and on! Please respond and pay if you want to come along. An interstate meetup hosted by Vespa Club Australia. VCoA is encouraging its member clubs to arrange interstate meetups.

Looks like we'll have about 15 riders from each club attending.

Penola is a beautiful and historical town just over the border in SA, and in the famous wine growing area of Coonawarra. It's exactly halfway between Adeliade and Melbourne. so it's a 450 km ride through some wonderful country there and another 450 back, and a chance to meet and ride with some great people from our sister club in Adelaide. Penola has some amazingly preserved architecture - Petticoat Lane is a must see - and of course its where Mary McKillop spent most of her life. VC Adelaide have already organized a lunch at a nearby winery for us.

VCoM has booked a number of rooms that can accommodate a ride of around 20 people. There is motel style with ensuite, and also traditional hotel rooms with shared bathroom. Attendance will require you to confirm your accomodation.

Melbourne ride up. Thursday 17 November. Overnight Hamilton.

Melbourne to Inverleigh (refuel and meet Geelong), then Mortlake (refuel), Hamilton (overnight), to Penola via Digby, Casterton, Dergholm. The Hamilton Hwy is a quiet road and easy riding with a few sursprises along the way. Fuel stops are calculated for a PX - every 150 kms.

Penola to Coleraine (refuel) then back roads to Macarther, Woolsthorpe (refuel), Terang (overnight). Then backroads via Cobden to East Colac (refuel), up throgh red rocks Lake Corangamite, Cressy, Inverleigh (refuel), back to Melbourne.OR Possible variation is south to Koroit and Tower Hill (To recreate an old 1958 VCoM photo) en route to Kerang. https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2070765

These are long hours in the saddle and we'll be riding C and B roads, where speeds are 100 kph. Your bike must be in excellent road worthy condition and recently major serviced. You also have Roadside Assist coverage. This is for the experienced rider. We're happy to talk it over with you.

You're more than welcome to explore your own options in and around the town. There's a caravan camping park too.

Remember there will be further accommodation costs for Thursday night Hamilton (the way up) and Sunday Night Camperdown (the way home).
