3M ride south west. The weather promises ideal riding - sunny and light winds - to visit some interesting places after breakfast. All members are welcome. First up, we'll support the Geelong breakfast meetup and then move on for a pleasant ride around the Brisbane Ranges. Suitable for all types of Vespa and rider experience. There are some unavoidable 100kph stretches so your Vespa needs to travel at around 90 kph to be safe. There are hills and valleys - and some steep inclines to climb.Yes, bring the PX, as a PX will lead the ride.
Melbourne riders meet from 7.30 AM at the BP Servo in Brooklyn (737 Old Geelong Rd) Coffee here. Depart at 8 AM. It's only a short half hour cruise down the highway from traffic light to traffic light. The road is deserted at this time, and we'll stick together as a group down to Geelong at a speed that suits all. We'll arrive at the GL breakfast at about 8.45 AM. Have a hearty breakfast there, departing at 10 AM.
Fyansford. (Depending on GL event traffic conditions) An old historical village on the outskirts of GL. We'll visit the old mill there - 20 mins
Bannockburn / Lethbridge. A fast run up to Bannockburn (16 kms of busy road) and then finally some beautiful country lanes. The valley between Lethbridge and Maude is one of my favourites on a sunny day, so we'll do it twice.
Maude - Bunjil Lookout. Great place to stop. Then up into the Brisbane Ranges.
Steiglitz. The remains of the old Gold Mining town. Once a boom town, now pretty much deserted. A bit to see here on a walk around. There's also a strong connection here with the original VCM. The Dynon house remains here, and it was a regular site for club rides. - 20 mins.
Meredith. We'll stop here for coffee and light food. There's a cafe here and a roadhouse for top-up fuel.
Lunch: As we've just finished breakfast I haven't booked a lunch / pub venue. Please top up with light food from the cafe or take away. Or bring some prepared food from home.
Fuel. PX should top up here for fuel as it's the last servo on the route until home.
Home via Morrisons and Rowsley. The lonely old town of Morrisons, and then a couple of amazing lansdscapes to ride up... and down.
