A great ride through some beautiful countryside beginning in South Morang through Whittlesea and around to Strath Creek via Flowerdale. After a stop in Broadford for a refuel and a coffee, we'll hit some back roads with a loop around to the small village of Pyalong. We'll have a look at the historic trestle bridge there before lunch at the Pyalong hotel. Then more back roads home to South Morang. It's Spring... let's get out of the city and stretch! Total ride kms = 220.

Meet from 8.30 AM Shell Reddy Express, 855 Plenty road, South Morang.  > MAP<   It's huge, you can't miss it. There's a Coles Express and a Plarres Bakery here if you're needing a coffee and breakfast snack. Please fill up here: we depart 9.00 AM

Through the outer suburbs (this used to be country!) and Whittlesea, and out through Flowerdale and a lovely road out to Strath Creek and Broadford. These are C roads, 80- 100 kph.

The Loop to Pyalong begins here, and the roads are great. Up towards Seymour on Sugarloaf Creek Rd and a swing across to the small village of Pyalong. The old trestle bridge is the main feature here. Pyalong was connected by rail in 1890 with a station on the old Heathcote rail line, closed in 1968

 The good news is that the old pub here has been fully renovated and refurbished and it is a comfortable place to stop. We'll settle for lunch here with a booking from 12 noon. It's a simple MENU

The trip home completes the back roads loop back towards Broadford, and we then strike home to reach Whittlesea via Wandong and Eden Park. Final stop will be the Commercial Hotel in South Morang if you need a beer before heading home.
