In the Goulburn Valley Ranges, only about 2 hours from Melbourne, we will find The Trawool Estate.
A beautiful hotel with extensive grounds, featuring award-winning bars and restaurants and friendly country hospitality.
This historic building (originally a Trawool's train station) is set amidst serene bush surrounds alongside The Great Victorian Rail Trail.
Outside, their outdoor Pizzeria is the perfect location for us Vespistas to stop and enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Gouldburn Valley Ranges.
The Ride
We will meet at Dr. Morse at 8:45AM and will depart at 9AM sharp.
We will head over to Kew and leave Melbourne via Templestone, St. Andrews and Kinglake National Park. The estimate travel time is 2h20m and 127.2 km. https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2657265?units=km
There are two petrol stations available along the way, one in Panton Hill and a second one in Kinglake which is fantastic for all PX riders.
Arrival at The Trawool Estate is expected to be around noon. We will enjoy our lunch for around an hour, then head back home.
We will be returning via Tallarook State Forest, down to Kinglake National Park and Whittlesea with final destination Dr. Morse for a wrap up drink. Travel time should be around 2h and 103.8 km. I have booked a table for 5 but the Pizzeria can comfortably cater for 20 or more. If everyone can please let me know in advance if you plan to attend it will be much appreciated, that way I can coordinate with the lovely people at The Trawool Estate.
This is a relatively easy ride, suited to riders wanting to experience a day ride to regional Victoria. It will also suit all Vespas from classic to modern.
Corner markers will be required and volunteers much appreciated.
