Not the Mille 2020

COVID travel restrictions have been lifted in time for the scheduled dates of Wednesday 9th - Friday 11th December. Time to confirm your entry by payment of $40 <here> and to organise your own accommodation. So get cracking for a fabulous event.

The Australian Classic Scooter Mille is an annual event for riders of classic geared scooters. Sorry, no modern autos (see here). A genuine test of both rider and scooter, it is held in a different state each year and comprises 2 days riding and navigation over 500-kms a day - all without GPS assistance.

The course is given to riders in advance. It’s an exercise in preparing for, mapping out, and riding 1000 kilometres over two days on a classic scooter. The Mille is a reliability trial not a race. A challenging event always held in the great spirit of camaraderie - so “no whining allowed!”. It’s been popular for VCOM’s classic riders.

This year the Mille was to be held in Tasmania in the days before the National Classic Scooter Rally. With the uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions both events have been postponed till 2021. Members (and Mille tragics) Michael King and Craig Trimble approached the club to help organise a Mille-like event in Victoria this year.

Not the Mille 2020 will leave Melbourne early on Wednesday morning and cover 1000 kilometres of Victoria's best country roads over the next two days. The route has two overnight stops in country towns. Sale on Wednesday 9 and Mansfield on Thursday 10 December. A presentation brunch-lunch will be held on Monday followed by a leisurely group ride back to the big smoke in the afternoon.

The same rules as the Mille will apply. Riders will be given the route well in advance to produce their maps, then ride in small groups self-navigating and posting pictures of landmarks along the way. If you want to challenge yourself to prepare and ride a classic scooter on an unusual scenic and rewarding reliability tour, Not the Mille 2020 might just be the ticket.

This event will be subject to Victorian COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time. If you have already registered your interest then to attend this event its time to make your entry payment <here>, where you'll receive a ticket confirming your attendance.

In case of breakdowns, a support van will sweep the course at the tail of the ride.
