Event Description

The ride is postponed. COVID-19

Hi all. We’ll be following the Club’s COVID-19 policy on this ride. A good short day ride to beautiful Mount Macedon using back roads, and a couple of secret short cuts. You'll be amazed to get there and back without a highway.  (Leaving aside Hanging Rock for a later event.) 170 Kms all up > See the Route Map here.

Suitable for all bikes and rider experience. It's especially good for new riders, or first time club riders. There's a couple of unavoidable short 100 Kph stretches. Promising clear views from the Mount and no fog this time.

Meeting at Johnny Pump, 87 Fletcher St Essendon MAP (next to the big roundabout. Please have breakfast at home. Take Away coffee is available at this meeting point. Departing at 10 am

There's a couple of interesting stops along the way to Mount Macedon - a beautiful place, and the ride up to the top - to the Big Cross reserve - is worth the ride itself. Hopefully the weather is crystal clear for a wonderful view of Melbourne.

Lunch stop will be in Gisborne where you’ll time to explore the shops and choose a take away pthe ride home via Sunbury. A very nice secluded bridge to find too. We might stop for some plane spotting before heading back to Johnny Pump in Essendon at 3.30 PM.

This event is going ahead, and we’ll try out running an event under our COVID-19 policy. Please have breakfast at home before you arrive. You could even bring along something for lunch.
We are really trying hard to keep the club functioning through this emergency:

Vespa Club of Melbourne
Response to the COVID-19 emergency.
Dated: 20 March 2020

Dear Members
The Club wishes to protect the health of its members and ensure that it meets the recommended and required restrictions on social interaction in the current emergency. We also want to balance the desire of Members to see the continued operation of the Club. To achieve this, and for the duration of the emergency:

Events which emphasise close social interaction will not be held. This includes the monthly breakfasts as they are currently organised, indoor dinner and restaurant events, overnighters where accomodation is shared etc.

As a riding club, ride events will continue to be organised but won’t include group breakfasts or lunches, or have destinations that expose members to risk. Ride organisers will attempt to build in access to take away facilities, or request you supply your own picnic, if meal breaks are required for the ride.

Members are reminded of the current recommendations regarding social distancing at all social events and the maintenance of a higher level of personal hygiene. Most importantly, if you are feeling unwell at all, do not attend a club event.

Thank you for your support of the club in these difficult circumstances. This advice may change upon further advice by medical authorities and government.

Julie Pond
President
