Get set for a wonderful long weekend exploring South Gippsland! This ride is over four days, basing ourselves in Meeniyan. Spectacular views of Wilson’s Promontory and great company....... what more could we want?
Meeniyan, a Gippsland Tourism award winning town, is approximately 135kms south east of Melbourne. The name Meeniyan translates in the local indigenous language to “moonlight”. Meeniyan has a strong arts community, with fine art and craft shops, antiques and a vibrant live music scene.
This ride is suitable for intermediate to advanced riders, however if you are just starting out now, there’s plenty of time to join in other club rides and get your skills up! There may be a teeny tiny bit of top quality gravel...... but not much.
SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER
Depart Melbourne for Meeniyan, stopping at Cannibal Creek Bakehouse, Garfield, for coffee. Here you’ll meet Gippsland riders before heading to Mirboo North, via Grand Ridge Rd for lunch. We should arrive at Meeniyan by 3pm, with time to relax before dinner at one of the local restaurants.
SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER
Our first loop ride will take us via Fish Creek and winding roads to Inverloch for coffee. Then it’s on to Prom Country Cheese for a relaxing lunch on the verandah, but not before our obligatory photo outside the retro garage at Kongwak! After lunch, it’s a leisurely ride back to Meeniyan for a well earned tipple, and dinner.
MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER
Our second loop ride takes us to the east, via Toora Wind Farm, to Yarram and the magnificent Tarra Bulga National Park. We will grab coffee at Yarram, before riding through the pristine rain forest, taking in the waterfalls along the way. Then it’s a quick stop at Balook, before taking more winding roads back to Port Albert for lunch, and back to Meeniyan for R&R.
TUESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER
Time to make our way back to Melbourne, stopping on the way for lunch.
Further details regarding the routes to be taken and restaurant stops will be posted soon, however accommodation is booked and confirmed for all three nights at Meeniyan Motel - yes, we have the whole place to ourselves for 3 nights!
Accomodation will be $150 per person for 3 nights accommodation ($300 couple).
If you would like to join us on this epic Vespa trip, please indicate your attendance by RSVP as soon as possible, as well as the type of rooms you would like.
All participants will be asked to confirm attendance and will be invoiced for accommodation 3 months prior to the ride (August 2019).
Let’s ride those rolling green hills!
